Portugal is where the rhythm of the ocean meets the pace of a perfect swing. Stretching from the sun-kissed Algarve to the cultural charm of Lisbon and the timeless beauty of Porto, the country offers a seamless blend of scenic coastline, world-class hospitality, and golf courses that rival any in Europe. It's no wonder that Portugal Golf Courses have become a bucket-list experience for golfers around the world.
Start your journey in the Algarve, the southern jewel of Portugal and a true golfer's paradise. Here, dramatic cliffs and golden beaches frame some of Europe's most celebrated fairways. Algarve Golf Courses like Monte Rei, Dom Pedro Old Course, Palmares, and Quinta do Lago South offer not just technical brilliance but unforgettable views that stretch over the Atlantic. Whether you're playing early morning rounds or watching the sun dip below the ocean, every swing feels like part of the landscape.
A few hours north, the Lisbon region blends coastal sophistication with cultural depth. Troia Golf, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., is a masterpiece of natural integration. At the same time, Oitavos Dunes in Cascais stands among the world's top 100 courses, combining rolling dunes with ocean panoramas. Between rounds, explore Lisbon's cobblestone streets, sample seafood in Setúbal, or sip wine in Sintra — proof that great golf can also be a gateway to extraordinary living.
Further north, Porto surprises many with its elegant mix of tradition and tranquillity. Courses such as Estela Golf Club and Vidago Palace provide a distinct atmosphere — green landscapes, historic charm, and that unmistakable Portuguese warmth that turns a game into a lifelong memory.

Hotel owners in the Algarve predict that the region's hotels will have an average December occupancy rate of between 40 and 50% thanks to the popularity of the hotels' entertainment activities.
President of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) Hélder Martins said: "We feel that all the hotels with year-end programs and animation will be complete, but the units that merely have occupancy I doubt very much that they will be able to fill up".
"The assumption is that, with the holidays (1 and 8 December), Christmas, and the end of the year, the Algarve sector may develop to an average occupancy rate which can go up to 40 or 50%," said the head of the largest hotel organization in the Algarve.
According to Hélder Martins, hotel occupancy was at 32% in December 2019, before the pandemic, which is used as a reference year for the tourist industry.
To quote Hélder Martins's estimate: "Right now we are 10% over 2019 reserves and prices have also climbed by that order of values, roughly 10%".
The leader of the hotel association warns, however, that there will be many last-minute bookings, between Christmas and the end of the year, which will be influenced by the weather forecast for the last days of 2022.
João Fernandes, president of Turismo do Algarve, has indicated that the region's tourism industry is "at very fascinating levels" for New Year's Eve, and that, based on his conversations with local hoteliers, he anticipates a rise in revenue compared to 2019.
The official said he was surprised by "three excellent news": more bookings in the domestic market, more reservations made directly with hotels, and more reservations made earlier than normal. He also noted that "the weather projections from the 15th of December are for good temperatures, and pleasant weather," all of which could aid with last-minute reservations.
With Albufeira and Tavira as examples, the head of Turismo do Algarve used the moment to praise the "investment in popular artists" made by numerous municipalities.

According to the most recent data from Internations' Expat City Ranking 2022, Lisbon has been named one of the world's happiest cities.
Some of the primary reasons why foreigners love Lisbon are the pleasant climate, rich culture, exciting nightlife, and friendly inhabitants.
Overall, Lisbon is 4th out of the 50 world cities in the ranking and is also in the 5th position in three out of the five indicators listed in the survey: Quality of Life, Personal Finance, and Ease of Settling In.
Not surprisingly, Lisbon obtained its best result in the climate and weather category, ranking first.
As stated before, culture, nightlife, and leisure sports are big draws for visitors from other countries, but nine out of ten foreigners also mentioned the safety they feel when they’re in Lisbon.
Lisbon scored highest in two of the subcategories related to how easy it is to settle in: local friendliness (fourth) and culture and welcome (second).
According to Internations, one American traveler said "They are helpful, nice, and polite. The Portuguese are very welcoming and kind".
In fact, visitors to the area often comment on how welcoming the locals are, how simple it is to adjust to the culture, and how contented they are with their social life.
