Salobre Golf Old Course
The Old Course (South Course) was inaugurated in 1999 and is one of the oldest commercial golf courses on the island of Gran Canaria. It was designed by Roland Favré, has 18 holes and is a Par 71 golf course. It has been the venue for very important championships such as the 2006 Spanish PGA and the Senior and Women’s Championships in Spain in 2001. The Old Course is a golf course for players of all levels. Tees at different heights, wide fairways and small greens are its hallmarks. El Cortijo Club de Campo
El Cortijo hosted the 2002 European Tour Canarias Open de España, won by Sergio Garcia, his first victory on home soil. The golf course debuted internationally in high competition with a European Tour tournament, hosting the Spanish Open in 2002, with victory Sergio Garcia and Rafael Cabrera- Bello being 4th as the best amateur in the tournament El Cortijo Club de Campo golf course has 18 holes, par 72, and a length of 6,308 meters, is one of the longest courses in Spain. The 'master plan' for the Salobre Old and New courses begins in Gran Canaria
The Salobre Old and New golf courses in Gran Canaria have a brand-new master plan, designed by David Williams Golf Design just last year. They're making some exciting changes to improve these golf courses.
Alejandro González, the director of golf at Salobre Golf & Resort, kicked off this plan in the summer of 2023. They started with the Old Course and have a smart strategy to save water on the golf courses. They've also removed some grass patches.
David Williams Golf Design and SURTEC Golf Agronomy teamed up to make plans for each hole. They want to make a clear distinction between the green grassy fairways and the sandy waste areas.
They worked with local volcanic sand to make surfaces that are great for walking or a buggy. If the golf balls went off course, they didn't want them to bounce too much, so they were going to add some cement, but ended up opting for a huge 5,000 kg roller instead.
SURTEC Golf Agronomy altered the sprinkler system. Over 700 circular sprinklers were turned into sectoral ones. This conserves water and makes outdoor spaces seem natural using native sand. They're also recycling some of the removed grass to cover up old bunkers, which were taken out as part of the David Williams Golf Design plan.
Next summer, they're planning to build new bunkers and give the existing ones a facelift. They hope to fully implement the Salobre Old Course master plan in the next few years, and then they'll work on the Salobre New Course.

Very nice well-kept course with fast greens. Play was just over four hours due to a slower moving group in front of us. Paired with a gentleman who lived on the island and was English speaking, so we enjoyed our play together.
