Vale do Lobo Royal
The Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course opened in 1997. Designed by American architect Rocky Roquemore, based on the original designs of Sir Henry Cotton, it is currently one of the most prestigious golf courses in the Algarve.
The Royal course is regarded as the better of the Vale do Lobo two layouts, most holes are played in a gently undulated ground inland and present a real challenge to the most experienced golfers.
Highlights of the Royal Golf Course include the almost island green of the 9th hole, and the famous 16th, the signature hole, a Par 3 measuring over 200 meters from the back tees and requesting a shot over a cliff, 100 meters high of the beach, one of the most celebrated golfing pictures in the world that represent the Algarve brand.
Vale do Lobo Ocean
Vale do Lobo Ocean Golf Course 18 holes is one of the challenging courses of the Algarve. Based on the original two 9 holes courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton in 1968 and 1972 that Rocky Roquemore reshaped in 2003. The layout takes the golfer to the seaside especially on the back nine. Most of the holes are memorable. The third, a Par 5 dog legging left with the green defended by a large front lake. The fabulous 9, a par 4 downhill from the tee for an uphill green with a beautiful cascade flanking the left side of the fairway. Then the 11th and 14th where the greens seems to be floating in the ocean, and the beautiful 15, a par 3 along the beach. Sea breeze can influence the game.
