Pierre Pineau won his first title, becoming the second Frenchman to win the competition. Tomás Bessa became just the fifth Portuguese player in the tournament's history to place in the top 10. A drone delivered the winner's check for 40,000€.
Pierre Pineau broke a six 2nd place stint since turning pro and finally won his first title with a thrilling finish thanks to a 15-meter putt to eagle to win the play-off of the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos, which had 250.000€ available in prize money.
In Óbidos, a popular golf holiday destination in Portugal, a big number of French spectators, including locals and visitors watched as Pierre Pineau, following in the footsteps of Grégory Bourdy in 2008, won the only Portuguese tournament on the Challenge Tour by beating fellow countrymen Félix Mory and David Ravetto in a sudden-death playoff at hole 18.
Both Mory (70+71+66+66), at age 28, and Ravetto (70+71+64+68), at age 25, were playing at the top of their games and closed the play-off with birdies, making it a true luxury play-off.
The Portuguese Open has not yet had a Portuguese name inscribed on the cup, but it was again a very positive national performance, with emphasis on the 6th place of Tomás Bessa, with 276 shots (12 under par), after rounds of 71, 71, 66 and 68, which earned him a prize of 9.000€.
Tomás Bessa climbed to 112th place in the Race to Mallorca and the top 120, at the end of the year, will already have a reasonable category on the Challenge Tour.
Gary Tait, the event director for the Challenge Tour, was present at the awards ceremony, as was Frederico Simes de Almeida, the administrator of the Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, and Filipe Silva, the administrator of Turismo de Portugal.
Óbidos' golf courses, which are part of the Golf Courses region , provide four spectacular golfing alternatives for your enjoyment. Take a look at some of the most recent feedback from our clients who have played on these golf courses.

Excellent course in great condition. The only gripe is that on a few occasions, the robot lawnmowers interfered with players in the group. Read more about Praia Del Rey

Absolutely fantastic golf course. Not easy to walk give distances between greens and tees but worth it to take in the views and how well the course has been sculpted into the landscape. Several blind drives making it very challenging first time put. Read more about West Cliffs Golf Links
