Ombria never fails to be a great experience for our group. From the moment arriving in the parking lot service is on point and quality. The reception and clubhouse staff are very professional and Paulo is one of the most personable and prepared caddymasters in the Algarve. The course was in excellent shape for end of July and we see they are in the process of installing driving nets for a little pregame warm up which is great news.

We played the Ombria GC yesterday and were VERY-VERY impressed - so much so that this course has now moved into the TOP 10 courses that I have ever played in the entire world. And, thus far in my lifetime I have played 648 DIFFERENT courses in 22 different courses throughout the world. The beginning 5 holes of this course were breathtaking!! It started with #1 and #2 being long back-to-back beautiful par-5s that crossed over a lovely meandering stream 4 different times. Then the par-4 3rd hole took you way up to the top of the mountain where you hit a breathtaking 200 foot drop tee shot back down to the fairway in the bottom of the valley. Then #4 took you waaay back up to the top of the mountain with a lovely 144 meter Par-3 hole - right at the top of the mountain. Then the majestic #5 hole was another Par-3 that was a 183 meters shot (and another 200 foot scenic drop) back down to the valley floor. I have NEVER in my life played a course with five such opening (and stunning) golf holes like this. Most of the rest of the course played out thru the lovely valley and every hole was a fine golf hole. The course was in EXCELLENT condition throughout - and the four of us were absolutely thrilled with the entire Ombria GC experience. I gladly give this course a 10+ rating - and am so glad you booked us on this one. Soooo far, it is the best of the 7 courses we have played since we arrived in the Algarve 2 weeks ago today. We've played Ombria twice now as a group of 12/16 players. Additionally I've played the course 4/5 separate occasions. The layout of the course, especially the front nine is exceptional and is blended skilfully into the landscape. The clubhouse facilities are first class.
That said, this was the least enjoyable round we've played there.
The course was exceptionally busy with many groups queuing particularly on the back to back par 3's. Etiquette of some of these players left a lot to be desired. Better spacing of tee times, ie 10-12 slots rather than current arrangements would help solve this.
I think this needs resolving soon before the course gets an undeserved reputation.

After a short drive into the foothills we received a warm welcome at Ombria golf course - we were met in the car park by a member of the team in a buggy ready to take us (and our clubs) up to the clubhouse. We were then set up with our own buggies and introduced to the course before teeing off - lovely day, lovely (challenging) course. We will definitely be back.

A unique track with two very differing nines. Spectacular setting in a valley for the first 9 with elevated tees and fabulous views. Accuracy off the tees will set you up for approaches. If you are wayward bring plenty of balls with you. Second 9 is a much gentler experience. We started on Hole 1 which was not usual as most starts are off the 10th. Buggy essential for all but the superhuman. Great course, nice facilities. Overall, a top afternoon out.

A beautiful but, difficult new golf course (take enough balls with you).
It is the 2nd time we have played here. We were there when the course was just open in 2024.
The course is very challenging, especially the 1st nine, which are more attractive than the 2nd. This is, of course, a personal opinion.
The staff are super friendly, especially the Marshall, who thinks outside the box. Because it was quite busy, he had figured it would be smarter for us to start on hole 10. Unfortunately, even there it was busy, so finally, we started on the 17th hole. Regrettably, from Hole 5, we ran into the flight ahead of us who had started on Hole 1 about the same or slightly ahead of us on Hole 17. But they also ran into the flight in front of them. A (Dutch) group of approx. 12 people (and from my point of view, they had a big gap ahead of them).
The Marshal informed us when he brought us to the 17th hole that if we wanted, we could play holes 17 & 18 a second time, but after all the waiting (we had played some of the greens a few times), we thought it was enough and returned to the clubhouse.
As for the green fee, we had a nice special rate, the winter rate, that was very pleasant.
I wish to point out that the normal green fees are much more expensive, but that is nowadays applicable to all golf courses in the Algarve.
This is very regrettable, I think, that green fees in the Algarve are getting too expensive. Especially as a flight is almost always booked up. I am not in favour of this. Especially not when I have to pay more than €150 for a round of golf.
The Ombria complex is very nice, especially now that the hotel, apartments, restaurants, etc... are as good as finished.
In my opinion, if you stay in Ombria you will be fully accommodated to all your wishes and have a great.
As for us, we would love to come back, but with a special green fee deal !!

Ombria is a fabulous golf course, it is marked well but there are a few holes it could have been marked out better, especially on the front 9, when you go up the mountain to play a par 4 and you are facing a par 3 green. Also when going from the 8th hole to the 9th was quite confusing and time is lost trying to figure out which direction to go. Greens were good. Staff in the club house were very helpful. The only thing that spoilt our day was the torrential rain.

First time playing the course and was very impressed. Some small issues. Golf course is not mapped on some golfers GPS watches. Putting green is miles away from 1st tee. There is no driving range. These are all small issues though

Oustanding new course. Great views, superb condition. Thank goodness for buggies, with some major elevation changes. The village will be excellent when complete.
Course ranger could do with chasing people on before 18th tee, when we were approached with one group on green and 2 on the Tee. 4hrs 40 mins for Round, (10 mins behind supposed schedule)

This new course is maturing well. The front 9 are quite tricky, particularly the second hole, and there are some very interesting elevated tees.
I think you need to play it quite a few times to understand where to position your ball on the par 5s, and club selection for the par 3s.
The back 9 is more open and a little more friendly.
Overall a very good addition to the Algarve although a little way out of Vilamoura (30 minute drive).

Really enjoyed this new course. Tricky set up and some difficult holes where course management is critical, particularly in the first nine. Critical to choose the right tees as a few lengthy carries. Some amazing views with elevated tee shots. Whole set up is great, everyone was really welcoming and the food in the bar/restaurant afterwards was lovely.

The course was in excellent condition, greens and bunkers in perfect condition and the front and back nine so different. The buggies were essential as there were lots of up and downs with elevated tees on the front nine. Well organised with transfers to and from the car to the clubhouse and clubs put on the buggy. We will come back here it is different to the other courses around a memorable experience.
