Quinta de Cima golf course, a championship course, is a true test for medium to low handicap golfers in Portugal’s Algarve region. This 6,159-meter, par-72 course features wide fairways, well-manicured greens, and strategic bunkers that make putting especially challenging. The tight 14th hole demands precision, with out-of-bounds areas on both sides, while wind conditions can add to the difficulty.
The course’s natural beauty is preserved with centuries-old olive trees and no real estate development, ensuring a pure golf experience. Water hazards—including lakes, streams, and ditches—come into play on several holes, particularly the final three. A meandering stream affects holes 4, 5, 6, and 13, adding further complexity.
Tee times should be booked in advance, especially during peak season, with green fees varying by time and availability. Golf packages offer multiple-round deals across Quinta de Cima and Quinta da Ria. Ladies’ tees provide a shorter course option, with 1,115 meters between red and yellow tees.

The course is well designed. Problems on the fairways improved, but still there. Greens very Goode, bunkers well prepared.

I thought there was a very good atmosphere at the clubhouse, nice staff and veranda for post round drink. The course was good. Some works were going on at the course. The bird life from the ria formosa was eye opening.

Obviously the course was not at its best after a lengthy period of maintenance and the green fee discount reflected that. A few times, playing from an area with new turf was a bit awkward, but for most shots, there was no problem. The greens were in beautiful condition. Hopefully it won't be too long until the course is fully recovered.

Very good experience.
Only downside was the pace of play.
Almost dark when we finished from a 1210 tee off.
