La Cala America formerly the North Course is enhanced by spectacular views to the Sierra de Ojén and Mediterranean Sea. A buggy is a necessity as the golf course is extremely hilly and has some huge changes in elevation on and between golf holes, La Cala America have some occasional long distances between greens and tees. It’s wide, linked fairways and relatively few bunkers make La Cala America a slightly easier driving course, requiring a lot of carry across steep brush-covering side slopes, while the small raised greens demands precise club selection. You will find water hazards on the 9th and 16th.Holes 6, 9 and 18, par-5ths are particularly more challenging and the par-3 16th is a real treat to play. An emblem of the architectural brilliance of the designer Cabell B. Robinson, he takes pride in the complexity of the La Cala America golf course and values it as one of its personal favorite works.

A vey nice course, beautifully shaped into the surroundings. Good and friendly service, well maintained. I am looking forward to playing the other two courses there on Sunday and Wednesday.

For anyone who hasn't experienced La Cala the winding journey into the hills can be an eye opener. The courses follow a similar winding hilly experience and buggies are essential. We played the Americas course which was in good condition and we only had a slight breeze most of the time. It was a tough track with some blind shots and narrow winding fairways. The back nine is easier. 4 hours 50 minutes round with a lot of waiting on tees and fairways. Tuck tuck refreshments on course and ranger on course. With three courses it was very busy and some buggies were a bit beatenn up.

Greens changed over the summer and still need time. Also rough around greens too deep and penal for a slight miss. Not usually like this.
Tee Times reply: La Cala Team reply:
Dear Nigel,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent game. Our America course reopened on September 2nd following its replacement with Bermuda grass. At this time of year with the heat that we have been experiencing, the growth rate of our grass has been very high which can make it difficult for us to maintain at the ideal height. As growth slows down, this becomes more manageable, and you would no longer see this. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on our courses in the future for a different experience.

For me the most enjoyable of the 3 La Cala courses - a little more room to hit driver so very playable for mid handicapper. Still interesting holes with some great views. Well recommended.

We played La Cala America… great course, fairway’s and greens in excellent condition. Very scenic with challenging holes. Only downside was that you could only pick up the buggy 20 mins prior to tee off and with buggies to load up with golf bags cool bags it made going to putting green prior to teeing off too rushed.. so didn’t bother!! Probably helped my game. ????
