Very interesting and well laid out. Greens fine but remainder of course would benefit from better maintenance, the fairways were not great. If they wish to compete with the better courses around they need to up their game. But in fairness at €71, a fair price compared to the average of €120 we are paying for the remainder of our rounds. To improve customer satisfaction, and I would have upgraded to 7, if perhaps a starter or at least someone to point you in right direction and explain local rules etc. once you cleared Reception and picked up the buggy you were ‘on your own’. Only a very small thing but Even a few tee pegs and a pencil would have been nice. For all that, well worth a visit.

The greens were not fast but they were true. You had to repair the many pitch marks left by other ''golfers''. I think that Castro Marim is a monotonous course. You go up to the tee box, down to the valley, up to the green. Up to the tee box, down to the valley, up to the green. And so on. The course lay-out is very poor. The dog-legs are ridiculous, as are the stroke indexes. As an example, hole 3 on the Guadiana course is a par 5. Why? It is only 404m from the whites, 361m form the yellows. The dog-leg is too far and too acute to give you a view from your tee shot to the green (very much like hole 1 on the Grouse course). Not only that, it has a stroke index of 2!!!!!! There are 3 courses of 9 holes at Castro Marim. If I am booked to play A+B, A+C, or B+C, I would expect to have a scorecard with the stroke indexes of the 18 holes that I am playing, not to have the SI of each nine. Of the six golf courses on the East Algarve (not to forget the two courses just over the bridge in Spain), Castro Marim is at the bottom of the list. I am a member of Benamor, second bottom of the list, but, as a member, it is impossible to book a tee time and so I have to pay to play elsewhere. By the way, I beat a 6-handicapper by 6 and 5 and he is never going to be allowed to forget, so my comments are not sour grapes.

Lovely course, good facilities, beautiful clubhouse and good food. Staff were pleasant however it would have made the experience a little better if staff were more proactive in directing visitors, eg to the caddymaster, to the range, to the first tee. We found we had to ask or find the way ourselves. A minor complaint but it is particularly relevant at a course with 3 x 1st tees!

Castro Marim continues to be a jewel in the crown of golf courses in the eastern Algarve. The course is perfectly laid out and has just enough water hazards to cope with being a (very) high handicapper. Even for me there are par, even birdie, chances as well as incredibly difficult holes. CM consists of 3 nine hole courses, the Grouse, Guadiana & Atlantic. All three are superb, on the day you are advised which two courses you play to make up the 18 holes, we played Grouse and Guadiana. The clubhouse facilities are excellent and the staff friendly. One tip, do not arrive before 8am as the facilities are closed until then.

Probably the right amount of challenge for our games. Some reachable par 5s but some daunting tee shots over water to make it interesting. Hit it straight and you have no worries. Course is in good nick and greens running true. Buggies could do with coolers on which would be a nice touch. Also a decent price to hire and not a rip off. Surrounding area needs more landscaping off the fairways to make it more appealing on the eye. Clubhouse very good. Food good value and service really helpful and polite.

Castro Marim consists of 3 sets of nines holes. Each are different in character and quality. The Grouse has a number of holes with wide fairways and long carries. Guardiana is more mature again with some long carries some over water. Finally Atlantico which is towards the sea. Ore mature narrower tree lined fairways. Some strange tee positions having to drive over the last green. Greens were acceptable but not great. Overall pleasant course nice clubhouse and one we enjoy playing

Impressed on arrival - nice drive and entrance to eh club. 4 of us played the Grouse & Guadiana courses. The first 2 holes had us wondering if it was worth the drive from Quinta Do Lago - the first cut was "rough" making it difficult to find our balls and the greens weren't the best. However, the course then opened out and we were pleasantly surprised with the all round condition of the next 7 holes of the Grouse course and the even nicer Guadiana course. The views are quite something to behold, adding more enjoyment to the round. Staff and service in the pro shop and bar were excellent, as were the facilities. Extremely good value for money. We all came away thankful that we'd made the effort and will look forward to visiting Castro Marim again on our next trip. Tamar at Teetimes.PT provided an excellent, personal booking service - highly recommended and will certainly use them again for future arrangements.

The course is a challenge if you are not a straight hitter but it is in excellent condition given the time of the year. There are several holes with superb views over the surrounding area and across into Spain. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It is very good value for money.

Good customer service and half way round we were given an ice cold towel which on a hot day was a real treat. The group behind hit through us on 3 occasions even though were kept right up with the group in front of us - it's a shame some golfers are idiots. Of course this was no reflection on the golf course itself. If you are looking for a medium length course (c.6,300 yards off the back (white) tees), with many challengingly tight drives then this is the course for you.

Played Castro MARIM on 19 April 2017. Course in reasonable shape but very quirky, lots of slopes on fairways and these cause you to be penalised for good drives. You have to aim left or right to get the ball to finish on the fairway. Greens okay. Not the best course in the area.

Reception and Caddie Master staff were 1st class.. Grouse 9 good, although greens not great. Guadiana 9,poor,but greens better. No course Marshall, people in front of us could not play golf and we would have finished 30 minutes earlier. There is a real lack of signage from the N125, even 500 metres from the entrance at a T junction there are 2 signs with golfers on them,1 to the right and 1 to the left! We started at 1.45.
