The Valle Guadiana Links course is located at the left bank of Guadiana River’s mouth, which serves as a border between Spain and Portugal.
Being integrated into a Nature Reserve, its special idiosyncrasy gives a freeing and relaxing effect, different from the rest of the golf courses nearby.
Valle Guadiana Links is a superb riverside parkland course with a real links feel. Just 2 kilometers from the highway connecting directly with Seville and Portugal (A-49). Valle Guadiana Links Golf Club is part of the Costa Esuri Urbanization, in the city of Ayamonte, in the heart of the Spanish Algarve
Just cross the Guadiana bridge and at the intersection turn left and 2km further on, you will find the Isla Canela links golf course.
The Isla Canela Links golf course was recently renovated, and we played yesterday for the first time, on a rainy day, which did not prevent first impressions from being positive. At the entrance, there is a nice parking lot. The club house is very functional. Next to it are two putting greens, where it is possible to pitch on one of them, the other being reserved only for putting. The driving range next to it works with chips for the ball machine, and although small, with a few bays available, it is very pleasant. The balls are hit on soft mats, and the distances and targets are well marked.
For those who knew the old layout, there has been a change in the front and back nine. I.e., the most inland area of the course is now the front nine, which starts with a par 5 dog leg on the right and has as its biggest obstacle a hose 100 meters from the green. Curiously, the 18th is also a par 5, and yesterday's headwind made it quite long.
The Isla Canela Links is a technically very interesting golf course, and there are no equal holes, so that the challenges along the course are always different. The back nine, closer to the Guadiana River, is where the wind has a greater influence and where you can also feel the links.
The greens are wide and well-kept, hard but holding the ball well, and have an excellent ball roll. The rough is low, making it easy to find balls that miss the fairways which helps to maintain a good rhythm of play.
It was a good experience and very good value for money.
The club house has a cosy atmosphere and a terrace with the option of open or closed depending on the weather.
The new Isla Canela Links has undoubtedly added value to the Costa de la Luz golf offer benefiting also from the excellent location, with several hotels less than 20 kilometres away.

Very nicely designed course. Like having two differing courses in one. The front nine being a parkland setting and the back nine very much a links course, with a healthy wind coming off the water of the Guadiana river. Nice facilities from pro shop, driving range and a very nice nineteen hole which has a nice menu to have a bite along with a good beer or your drink of choice. Course conditions good but a sly bit dry and could use a bit of irrigation.

Very good course. A good gold challenge of golf to both high and low handicap players. The course was in good condition especially the greens which were superb. The staff are very friendly and helpful anytime that I play the course.

We have always enjoyed this course and noticed that some good work had been carried out to improve the course since last year.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a beer in the clubhouse after playing.
The only downside was that the fairways were very dry due to extended dry weather. But otherwise a great course.
A very enjoyable round of golf.

Course very good condition with greens unrecognisable from 5 years ago in a good way.Fairways bunkers and tees all very good as well.lovely clubhouse with friendly staff and reasonable prices.Only thing that was different from last year is they did a promotion for 2 players and buggy for €100 last year but no offers this year.
Tee Times reply: On low season that offer is still on

We missed our tee time by almost an hour because we were still operating on Portugal time. But the friendly reception managed to slot us in. Staff are friendly. Course was in good condition. The greens were a little slow but good enough to provide a nice challenge with some fast breaks on certain holes. Will return if the opportunity comes again.

Rather fine course in “links” environment. Rather depressing are the enormous unfinished huge buidings that are next to the course. Clubhouse cozy interior and good service. Would advise to mention more clear the local starting time. Our mistake ,it is onthe voucher but would help for the first time over to Spain. Service?
