La Hacienda Links Golf
The Links course at the La Hacienda Golf Resort originally opened in 1990 then remodeled in 1999 to improve its playability by widening fairways and ironing out some of the more severe undulations on the greens.
It is an undulating cliff top seaside course that enjoys stunning views over the Mediterranean, the Straits of Gibraltar and the distant Atlas Mountains in North Africa.
The course has an out and back routing with the first four holes heading towards the shoreline and the mile-long beach. Holes 5 to 14 then play out along the coast before the fairways head back inland to complete the round in front of the clubhouse.
Also has a magnificent Driving Range with 72 bays, a spacious practice area with putting green, bunkers and a short game area.

La Hacienda Links is receiving international attention for its transformation
Two major awards in the golf tourism sector have recognised La Hacienda Links' transformation into one of Europe's best 36-hole golf courses.
The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) honoured 60 businesses and organisations with its Outstanding Service Award this year; among them was La Hacienda, whose remodelled Links Course rose 42 spots on the list of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World.
The awards come after a busy 2022 for La Hacienda, which saw the reopening of the Links course following a substantial makeover by renowned architect Kurtis Bowman, and the inauguration of a new clubhouse and restaurant.
Voting for the 2023 IAGTO Awards was open to more than 670 IAGTO members. The top 60 businesses and organisations were recognised for their contributions to the golf tourism sector, and nominations were also open to tourist boards.
“These are exciting times for La Hacienda and these two international awards are just another indicator of the resort's increasing position at the forefront of European golf”, says Javier Illán, President of Millennium Hospitality, owners of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort.
“Having risen so high up the new Top 100 in such a short amount of time is a source of tremendous pride for us. But this is just the beginning, and we will keep working to provide the finest service possible to all of our golfers and guests”, adds Illán.
La Hacienda Heathland, the resort's other 18-hole golf course, will also get a period of renovation in the coming months to improve the design and golf experience.
Off the greens, La Hacienda has undergone several renovations, including the construction of a brand-new, modern clubhouse, a new driving range, and an upgraded practice area, as well as the addition of the beach bar and restaurant, Sal Verde.
La Hacienda, in Costa del Sol, will debut an entirely new hotel and Fairmont villas of more than 300 rooms in the spring of 2024, highlighting the resort's aspiration to become one of the most exclusive and luxurious golf developments in Spain.
Other upcoming enhancements include the launch of a new state-of-the-art website, a variety of updated stay-and-play packages, and the opening of a new player halfway house at the Links course.

Unfortunately the Links has a problem with wild boar at the moment and parts of the course look scruffy where they have been digging. It is mainly marked as GUR. Just doesn’t look good .

Really nice course and views. Have a big problem at the moment with, I assume, wild boar around the greens - really are a mess on most holes.

Fantastic course and a beautiful setting. Very hilly for a links course. The coffee at the halfway house is awful.
