Empordà Golf Resort is set to open for business in 2022 after changing the name of its hotel to Hotel Terraverda following a major upgrade to the popular resort's facilities.
After receiving an investment of more than twenty-one million euros and undergoing an extensive renovation programme over the past two years, the hotel has been renamed to represent the major modernisation that has taken place.
The Hotel Terraverda has been transformed with a new contemporary look in the rooms, common areas and restaurant after everything has been redesigned and refurbished. Hotel guests can now also enjoy the new outdoor swimming pool that has been installed.
The word terraverda ('green land') was chosen to reflect the two spectacular golf courses that surround the hotel. The new name was also chosen to reflect the green environmental path the company is determined to follow in reducing its carbon footprint. They are determined to show that travel is possible with more responsible hospitality and dining options.
Following the opening of the golf club in 1988, the five original owners commissioned renowned American architect Robert von Hagge to design the Empordà's two golf courses, the Links and the Forest, and the venue has had the privilege of hosting numerous high-profile tournaments, including the recent Challenge Tour Empordà and Challenge Tour Costa Brava events in October. The Hotel Empordà was inaugurated in 2006.
While Hotel Terraverda will be the new name of the hotel, the resort retains its name as Empordà Golf. Both golf courses have undergone significant investment to improve the golf holidays offered to members and guests.
The work carried out here includes the reconstruction of all bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker method, a comprehensive tree cleaning programme and the purchase of new maintenance equipment to improve the overall condition of tees, fairways and greens.
