The Solheim Cup is a unique event because it combines the history and prestige of golf with the pride of one's country and continent. The top 12 players from both the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour meet every other year in a transatlantic team match-play competition.

The Solheim Cup has become the most prestigious team competition in women's professional golf, and players from both the European and American teams compete fiercely for spots on the teams.

There are a total of 28 games played over the course of three days between two teams of 12 players, using the same structure as the Ryder Cup (8 foursomes and 8 fourballs on the first two days and 12 singles on the final day).

The inaugural Solheim Cup was played in 1990, in Florida, and team Europe won the latest edition of the tournament, in 2021.

The Solheim Cup is named after Karsten and Louise Solheim, founders of the Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, the parent company of PING golf clubs.

In 2023, the Costa del Sol will host the Solheim Cup for the first time. The event will take place in Finca Cortesin, located in the heart of Costa del Sol, from September 18 to September 24, 2023. For the first time, Stacy Lewis will be the captain of the American team, while Suzann Pettersen will be Europe's team captain.

Among the top five courses in Spain, Finca Cortesin has been recognized several times by the specialized media. The golf course's 18 holes, designed by Cabell Robinson, are all unique from one another, making for a challenging and entertaining round of golf.

There is a big variety of top-tier golf courses on the Costa del Sol, some of which are among the greatest in all of Europe. The region is ideal for hosting international tournaments due to its ideal climate, plenty of recreational opportunities, and outstanding hotels.

Simply allowing yourself to get taken away will reveal the many delights that await you at the region of the Solheim Cup 2023, the finest women's golf competition in the world.
