Batalha Golf Club Ponta Delgada, Azores
Batalha golf course where the green of the land meets the blue of the ocean, a historic landscape awaits you. This course, designed by Cameron Powell in 1986, offers 27 holes of golf laid out over 120 há, with its magnificent setting, nestling on the skirts of the surrounding hills and with sweeping views to the ocean – has large flowing greens, wide and generous fairways and sinuously contoured bunkers. It is difficult to select a best hole – they are all in some ways exceptional – but there is a very special sensation to be felt when standing on the soaring 6th Tee of the B loop.The facility opened to the public in 1993 and its sumptuous clubhouse offers a unique setting for weddings and other banqueting events. Furnas Golf Course São Miguel, Azores
Achada das Furnas golf course is situated on São Miguel Island, «the green island», near the grottoes or furnas, and the lake with that name, places which show the volcanic origin of these islands.|A new nine-hole course designed by Cameron Powell has been added to the previous one. It maintains the character given by Mackenzie Ross, so much so that it is impossible to say nowadays which two nines was designed first. The separation of the fairways is almost always made by cryptomerias, large trees that, in our opinion, are the most suitable for the purpose. The course has all the characteristics of a Scottish one and it is the most British of all Portuguese golf courses. Practically every fairway is undulated, requiring all types of shots, and the greens are excellent and full of borrows. (...)
