Santa Clara Golf opened in July 2001. This golf course is located only a couple of kilometres east of Marbella at the Costa del Sol in Spain.Enrique Canales designed this course in ''Park-land'' style and, although Santa Clara Golf is located in an undulated area, it is relatively forgiving. Probably the most difficult hole is the long 8th (par 5 - 506 metres). The tee box is positioned at the highest level of the course. The narrow fairway of this hole curves all the way down to sea level.Santa Clara Golf is designed accordance the latest USGA specifications of a Park-land course. Besides the huge river which swirls across the whole golf course there are plenty of lakes (the small lake around the 18th green provides a stunning setting, see the picture above) and spectacular elevated greens. Atalaya Golf New Course Estepona, Andalusia
Atalaya New Course offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and is seen as one of the most natural golf courses on the coast. Created in 1990 by Paul Krings, the New Course is set further inland, but has a similar parkland feel about it - with gently undulating fairways and large, fast greens. The Links course at the Alcaidesa Golf Resort orignally opened in 1990 then remodeled in 1999 to improve its playability by widening fairways and ironing out some of the more severe undulations on the greens. It is an undulating cliff top seaside course that enjoys stunning views over the Mediterranean, the Straits of Gibraltar and the distant Atlas Mountains in North Africa. The course has an out and back routing with the first four holes heading towards the shoreline and the mile-long beach. Heathland Golf Course is another spectacular option for players at Alcaidesa. Designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 2007, it has wide open fairways and is reasonably flat all the way round, apart from the 11th which is laid out over differing levels.
