The resort is very nice with manicured surroundings. Our well dimensioned Studio room had a comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. The pool area with large pools and an adult only section is great. The gym is large and well equipped. We did not make use of the spa which also looks very nice. Our dinner at Cortijo Restaurant was very good. The restaurant Marxa was not open during our 7 nights stay.
The breakfast is served at the table. The food selection is good but unfortunately the quality is average (definitely not 5 stars).
The quality of the cocktails served at the bar was not good at all.
Generally speaking the level of the service was below our expectations. The staff of the hotel is friendly, but appears to be quite indifferent, there is clearly a lack of personal touch.
Moreover, on some occasions, we were not entirely satisfied with the quality of the cleaning in our room. The gym area was not cleaned in the early morning which we found unacceptable.
Despite the negative points related to the service, we can say that we had a good stay at SO/ Sotogrande. It is unfortunate that the hotel does not exploit its full potential. Otherwise it could be a real gem. Hopefully they will improve in the future.
